Washington Wizards general manager Tommy Sheppard isn't entertaining the thought of dealing John Wall despite his reported request for a fresh start elsewhere.

"There's no plans to trade John," Sheppard told reporters Monday, according to The Athletic's Fred Katz.

Sheppard added he's been in regular contact with the five-time All-Star and dismissed any tension between both parties.

"There's no issues with John and the Wizards," Sheppard said, according to Katz.

Wall's contract would be the biggest hurdle in any possible deal. He's still owed $85.6 million over the next two seasons and will almost certainly exercise his $47.4-million player option for 2022-23.

The Houston Rockets have reportedly spoken with Washington about a potential swap surrounding Wall and their own disgruntled guard Russell Westbrook. However, those conversations apparently haven't gained any traction.

Wall hasn't played in an NBA contest since December 2018. While injuries have sidelined him for nearly two years, the former No. 1 overall pick remains the franchise's all-time leader in steals and assists.
