Former NBA All-Star forward Amar'e Stoudemire has agreed to join new Brooklyn Nets head coach Steve Nash's staff as an assistant coach, sources told The Athletic's Shams Charania.

Stoudemire played alongside Nash for the Phoenix Suns' famed "seven seconds or less" teams from 2004 to 2010, forming a lethal transition and pick-and-roll pairing.

Mike D'Antoni, who was head coach of the Suns during that era, is also a candidate to join Nash's staff, ESPN's Frank Isola reported earlier this month.

Stoudemire, 37, last suited up in the NBA in 2016, and he's since played in Israel and China.
