The Chinese Basketball Association's Fujian Sturgeons won't re-sign former NBAer Ty Lawson due to his social media posts that were deemed inappropriate.
"His inappropriate words are inconsistent with the social responsibilities and values abided by our club and have brought serious adverse social impacts to the club and the league. We will not sign him for the new season," the Sturgeons said in a statement, according to Chinese state news agency Xinhua.
The posts in question appeared on Lawson's Instagram, according to Emiliano Carchia of Sportando.
Lawson was last on an NBA roster with the Washington Wizards in 2018, appearing in five playoff games. The 32-year-old point guard suited up for five NBA teams over nine seasons.
