The Philadelphia 76ers' title hopes took another blow before the postseason.

Philadelphia announced Joel Embiid suffered a left ankle injury during the first quarter of Sunday's matchup against the Portland Trail Blazers and won't return, according to ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski.

It's unclear exactly when Embiid injured himself, but he appeared shaken up after going for a loose ball early in the contest. The big man went to the locker room during the ensuing timeout.

Embiid had two points on 1-of-6 shooting in six minutes.

Philadelphia is already missing All-Star guard Ben Simmons, who's reportedly unlikely to play again this season after leaving the bubble to undergo knee surgery.

Embiid has been a force during the NBA restart, averaging 30 points, 13.5 boards, 3.3 assists, 1.3 blocks, and 1.3 steals across four appearances.
