San Antonio Spurs forward Trey Lyles has been ruled out for the resumption of the 2019-20 season after undergoing an appendectomy Wednesday, the team announced.

Lyles averaged 6.4 points and 5.7 rebounds while starting in 53 of 63 games this season for San Antonio. He also shot 38.7% from distance while taking 2.7 attempts per contest.

The 24-year-old Canadian signed with the club last summer following two seasons apiece with the Utah Jazz and Denver Nuggets.

San Antonio was already without star forward LaMarcus Aldridge, who underwent surgery on his right shoulder in April. Following confirmation of Aldridge's absence, the Spurs signed free-agent center Tyler Zeller.
