Atlanta Hawks forward Vince Carter thinks the basketball world should wait and see how the rest of LeBron James' career plays out before determining where he ranks among the NBA's all-time greats.
Carter weighed in on the GOAT debate on the latest episode of the "All The Smoke" podcast, ranking Michael Jordan first, followed by Kobe Bryant and James. However, he believes the opportunity is there for James to surpass Bryant.
"He has an opportunity and it's just gonna be based off of what he gets done," Carter said (conversation starts around the 31:30 mark). "But like I said, he gets to The Finals again, I mean, you're just gonna give him more credit. Now, 10 times in The Finals? That's insane, like he got to The Finals double-digit.
"I just say to people, let's wait and see. Wait until it's all said and done, then it's fair to have a real debate. Because we're talking about MJ and those - they can't score any more points. That's it. They can't score any more points. They've already done what they had to do. ... Let's see what LeBron does and how it all plays out and go from there."
James has made nine appearances in the NBA Finals, posting a 3-6 record. Jordan had six wins in six trips, while Bryant went 5-2.
