Draymond: Raptors didn't stand a chance in Finals if KD was healthy

Golden State Warriors forward Draymond Green believes a healthy Kevin Durant would have been too much for the Toronto Raptors to handle in last year's NBA Finals.

"Once we got Kevin, we were f------ unstoppable," Green said Thursday on Showtime's "All The Smoke" with Matt Barnes and Stephen Jackson. "Even losing last year, Kevin don't get hurt - you seen the game he came back in Game 5, I looked up, it was like six minutes to go, we had like 40 points in the first quarter."

Durant missed nine games during the 2019 postseason after suffering a calf strain in the Western Conference semifinals against the Houston Rockets. He was cleared to return for Game 5 of The Finals with the Warriors one loss away from conceding the title to Toronto.

As Green noted, Durant proved to be an instant spark for Golden State, going 3-for-3 from deep en route to 11 first-quarter points as the Warriors took a 34-28 lead. However, he tore his Achilles just two minutes into the second frame.

"They wouldn't have stood a chance if Kevin didn't get hurt," Green said. "But, you know, shit happens and that's a part of the game. Injuries happen. And Kawhi (Leonard) was f------ amazing. Pascal Siakam, they were f------ amazing."

Despite Durant's injury, the Warriors went on to force a Game 6 at home but fell to Toronto after also losing Klay Thompson to a torn ACL.

Durant then left for the Brooklyn Nets in free agency and has yet to appear in a game since.

During an October episode of "How Hungry Are You?" with Serge Ibaka, Durant said the Raptors would have lost in seven games if he was healthy.

"Let's put it like this: if y'all go into a Game 7 with a two-time champ, y'all not winning that game," he said. "Y'all not. Y'all had to win in six, which y'all did. But if I was out there, y'all wouldn't have beat us at home."
