Report: Bulls hire Pelicans' Polk as assistant GM
The Chicago Bulls are hiring New Orleans Pelicans executive JJ Polk as assistant general manager, sources told The Athletic's Shams Charania.
It's the first move from reported new executive vice president of basketball operations Arturas Karnisovas.
Polk, who is African-American, has spent nearly the last decade working as a salary cap specialist for the Pelicans. He's believed to be one of multiple assistant general managers set to be hired by the Bulls, according to K.C. Johnson of NBC Sports Chicago.
Denver Nuggets scout Pat Connelly is also in serious discussions to join the Bulls' front office, ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski reports. Connelly previously worked under Karnisovas during the latter's tenure as Nuggets general manager.
Karnisovas reportedly intends to hire a person of color to be the Bulls' next general manager while head coach Jim Boylen apparently expects to return next season.
