A Rhode Island child has tested positive for COVID-19 after receiving an autograph from an unspecified NBA player who was later diagnosed with the disease, Westerly police chief Shawn Lacey announced Friday, according to the Providence Journal's Brian Amaral.

Lacey said the child received the autograph while attending a game in Boston but did not specify which player it belonged to.

The Celtics hosted the Utah Jazz on March 6. The Jazz announced two of their players had tested positive, which were later confirmed to be Rudy Gobert and Donovan Mitchell.

Gobert was the first player in any professional North American sports league to contract the coronavirus. In response, the NBA immediately postponed the rest of its 2019-20 season. The NHL, MLS, and MLB followed suit by postponing their own respective campaigns.
