New Orleans Pelicans guard JJ Redick will miss at least two weeks after an MRI confirmed he is dealing with a left hamstring strain, the team announced Sunday.
Redick sustained the injury Friday during the Pelicans' win over the Cleveland Cavaliers. The 35-year-old played just over four minutes before being ruled out for the rest of the game.
The injury comes at an inopportune time for the Pelicans, who have climbed from 12th to ninth in the West since rookie Zion Williamson made his NBA debut Jan. 22. New Orleans is currently two-and-a-half games behind the Memphis Grizzlies for the conference's eighth playoff seed.
Redick is averaging 14.9 points in his 14th NBA season. He's shooting 45.2% from 3-point range, which ranks second in the league among qualified shooters this season behind Milwaukee Bucks guard George Hill.
