Lillard sounds off after refs miss goaltend on game-tying layup

The NBA's last-two-minute report Saturday will include at least one "INC" for "incorrect no-call."

The Utah Jazz hung on to beat the Portland Trail Blazers 117-114 on Friday night after officials missed a clear goaltending call on Rudy Gobert's swatting of Damian Lillard's shot while Portland was down two with less than 15 seconds remaining.

To add insult to injury for the Blazers, they couldn't challenge the play because no official call was made. Lillard, who scored 42 points in the game, was livid with the no-call.

Officials also apparently told multiple Blazers that Lillard's game-tying shot attempt "wasn't even close" to a goaltend, according to NBA.com's Casey Holdahl.

"We get to the last play of the game, and they miss an easy call," Lillard said postgame, according to ESPN. "And then they tell us that's an easy no-call, that was obviously not a goaltend. Cost us a f------ game, man. Cost us a game."

Crew chief Josh Tiven and his peers later retreated from their initial stance and admitted they missed the call.

"We've since looked at it via postgame video review, and unfortunately saw that we missed the play and a goaltending violation should have been called," Tiven said, according to The Salt Lake Tribune's Eric Walden.

Lillard's backcourt mate, CJ McCollum, was also critical of the officials and suggested some repercussions for their egregious decision.

"Just makes me think you're not capable of doing the job the way you are supposed to do it," McCollum said, according to ESPN. "Which means you should be reprimanded; you should be fined accordingly. When we make mistakes, we're fined."

The loss kept Portland two-and-a-half games behind the Memphis Grizzlies for the eighth and final playoff spot in the West.
