Report: Warriors moving on from Russell trade talks with T-Wolves
Negotiations between the Warriors and Timberwolves have hit an impasse.
Golden State is moving on from discussions with Minnesota over a trade involving guard D'Angelo Russell after the Timberwolves were unable to meet the Warriors' price point, reports The Athletic's Shams Charania.
Though the Timberwolves' key trade target appears to be off the table, Minnesota reportedly later agreed on a blockbuster, four-team deal with the Houston Rockets, Atlanta Hawks, and Denver Nuggets that saw 12 players change sides.
Golden State and Minnesota exchanged deal concepts Tuesday but are still separated by a "significant gulf" in negotiations, Wojnarowski adds. The Warriors' focus is to get underneath the luxury-tax line while still acquiring value in any swap. However, the team is also reportedly open to keeping Russell past the 3 p.m. ET deadline Thursday.
Russell is averaging 23.8 points and 6.3 assists in 32 games with Golden State this season. He was acquired over the summer in the sign-and-trade that sent Kevin Durant to the Brooklyn Nets.
