Clippers' Harrell wins NBA Sixth Man award
Montrezl Harrell of the Los Angeles Clippers has been named the NBA's Sixth Man of the Year, the league announced.
Harrell beat out Oklahoma City Thunder guard Dennis Schroder and teammate Lou Williams for the nod, finishing with 58 first-place votes.
It marks the third straight time and the fifth in seven years that a Clippers player takes home the honor. Williams won it the past two seasons, while Jamal Crawford captured the award in 2014 and 2016.
NBA awards this season only factor in performance prior to the March 11 suspension of play. During that time, Harrell came off the bench in 61 of 63 games, averaging 18.6 points, 7.1 rebounds, and 1.1 blocks. He also shot 58% from the floor, the 10th-best mark in the NBA.
The award comes with Harrell set to hit unrestricted free agency after the season ends. A second-round pick by the Houston Rockets in 2015, Harrell signed what was a bargain two-year, $12-million contract with the Clippers in 2018.
