The NBA announced Friday that the Los Angeles Lakers topped the league in merchandise sales to begin the 2019-20 season, while Lakers star LeBron James possessed the top-selling jersey over the same time period.
The results are based on the NBA Store's online sales between October and December of 2019. Both the Lakers and James also ranked No. 1 in sales for the full 2018-19 campaign.
Reigning NBA MVP Giannis Antetokounmpo ranked second in jersey sales to begin 2019-20. He was followed by injured Golden State Warriors guard Stephen Curry, Boston Celtics wing Jayson Tatum, and Houston Rockets guard James Harden.
The reigning NBA champion Toronto Raptors placed highly in overall team merchandise sales to begin 2019-20, ranking within the top five for the first time ever despite not having an individual player ranked within the top 15 in jersey sales.
