X-rays negative after AD exits with lower-back contusion vs. Knicks

Los Angeles Lakers star Anthony Davis left Tuesday's game against the New York Knicks after landing awkwardly on his back in the third quarter.

The Lakers announced Davis suffered a sacral contusion on the play and will not return to the game, according to Tania Ganguli of the Los Angeles Times. X-rays returned negative but the forward is still feeling "sore," Davis' agent Rich Paul said, according to Bill Oram of The Athletic.

Davis is expected to undergo an MRI on Wednesday and miss the team's two-game road trip against the Dallas Mavericks and Oklahoma City Thunder on Friday and Saturday, reports ESPN's Dave McMenamin.

Davis appeared to be in considerable pain and was seen grabbing at his lower back. He stayed down for several minutes before gingerly walking to the locker room under his own power.

The 26-year-old could be seen walking slowly in the tunnel as medical staff trailed with a stretcher.
