Golden State Warriors superstar Stephen Curry broke his left hand on a hard fall during Wednesday's game against the Phoenix Suns, the team announced.

The two-time MVP was injured during a collision with Suns big man Aron Baynes in the third quarter.

The initial diagnosis is a broken second metacarpal bone, according to ESPN's Ramona Shelburne.

Postgame, Baynes expressed his concern for Curry to Warriors head coach Steve Kerr.

"Aron Baynes came up after the game and wanted to know how Steph was doing," said Kerr, according to The Athletic's Anthony Slater. "He felt really bad. Just a random basketball play. Stuff happens."

General manager Bob Myers said Curry will undergo a CT scan, which will determine if surgery is needed, according to NBC Sports' Kerith Burke.

A cast is also an option and, at the moment, there's no estimated recovery timetable, added Burke.

Curry struggled during his time on the court, posting nine points on 3-of-11 shooting, including 1-for-7 from distance.

The 31-year-old entered Wednesday's matchup averaging 24 points per game but was connecting at only a 26.7% clip from downtown.

Golden State is already without star guard Klay Thompson for most, if not all, of the season.

Rookies Jordan Poole and Ky Bowman are expected to take on expanded roles in Curry's absence.

The Warriors dropped to 1-3 after a 121-110 loss to the Suns.
