It appears that Marquese Chriss is getting another shot.
The Golden State Warriors are waiving forward Alfonzo McKinnie, clearing a roster spot for the former eighth overall pick, sources told The Athletic's Shams Charania.
The move puts Golden State $375,000 below the hard cap, according to ESPN's Bobby Marks.
Chriss joined the Warriors on a non-guaranteed training camp invite and had a strong preseason, posting 9.5 points, 8.3 boards, and 1.2 blocks across four appearances.
The 22-year-old has largely disappointed since entering the league three years ago, failing to build on his success after earning NBA All-Rookie second-team honors in 2016-17.
Golden State will be Chriss' fourth club in as many years.
McKinnie was one of the Association's feel-good stories last season. He paid $175 for a tryout with the Chicago Bulls' G League team in September 2016 and found himself starting in an NBA Finals game with the Warriors a little less than three years later because of injuries to Kevin Durant and Andre Iguodala.
The 27-year-old averaged 4.7 points and shot 35.6% from downtown across 72 appearances for the Warriors during the 2018-19 campaign.
McKinnie is eligible to be claimed on waivers by all 29 teams, according to Marks.
