The Brooklyn Nets have promoted former NBA veteran Tiago Splitter to the role of player development coach, the team announced Monday.

Splitter spent last season as a pro scout for Brooklyn.

The 34-year-old was selected in the first round of the 2007 NBA Draft by the San Antonio Spurs but didn't make the jump to the Association until the 2010-11 season.

He averaged 8.3 points and 5.3 boards across five seasons for the Spurs and was a key starter during the club's championship run in the 2013-14 campaign.

Splitter also played for the Atlanta Hawks and Philadelphia 76ers. He retired from the NBA in February 2018 due to a chronic hip injury and was hired by the Nets just a few months later.
