Veteran center Zaza Pachulia has retired after a 16-year NBA career and is rejoining the Golden State Warriors as a consultant.
Pachulia was a frequent starter during his two seasons in the Bay Area and helped the franchise win back-to-back championships in 2017 and 2018. He spent the 2018-19 campaign with the Detroit Pistons, appearing in 68 games and averaging 12.9 minutes per contest, mostly as a reserve.
The 35-year-old is the only native of Georgia to ever win a title in the NBA. He was drafted in the second round in 2003 by the Orlando Magic and also played for the Milwaukee Bucks (in two different stints), Atlanta Hawks, and Dallas Mavericks.
He finishes his career with averages of 6.8 points, 5.8 rebounds, and 1.3 assists in 1,098 games.
In other news involving former Warriors, Golden State announced it has also promoted Mike Dunleavy Jr. to assistant general manager. Dunleavy joined the club as a scout in September 2018 following a 15-year career in the league.
