The San Antonio Spurs are reportedly "pissed" after forward Marcus Morris backed out of his commitment with them to join the New York Knicks. However, tensions between the two clubs have apparently been building for years.
Some people within the Knicks organization feel the Spurs "crossed lines of accepted behavior" and occasionally "operated outside of accepted NBA norms" before New York traded star Kristaps Porzingis to the Dallas Mavericks, sources told SNY's Ian Begley.
It's unclear what the Spurs did regarding Porzingis to draw the Knicks' ire, but San Antonio reportedly had significant interest in the former fourth overall pick prior to his move out of the Big Apple.
Porzingis missed the entire 2018-19 season recovering from a torn left ACL. The Latvian averaged 22.7 points, 6.6 boards, and 2.4 blocks per contest the year prior en route to his first All-Star appearance.
Porzingis agreed to a five-year, $158-million contract with Dallas this offseason.
