The Milwaukee Bucks are planning to re-sign center Brook Lopez to a four-year, $52-million contract when free agency opens Sunday, league sources told ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski.
Lopez returned immense value on his meager $3.4-million deal last season and became an indispensable part of a Bucks team that posted a league-high 60 wins.
Though he began his career with the New Jersey/Brooklyn Nets as a traditional, post-oriented scorer, Lopez has emerged as one of the best shooters for his size in the league. Over the past three seasons, the 7-footer has shot 35.4 percent on over five 3-point attempts per game. His size and long-range stroke have earned him the nickname "Splash Mountain," also a nod to his love for all things Disney.
To put Lopez's unique season in perspective, in 2018-19 he recorded more total 3-pointers made (187) than Kobe Bryant registered in any year of his career and more total blocks (179) than any season in Kevin Garnett's career.
