Report: Pelicans finalizing 2-year deal with EuroLeague star Nicolo Melli
The New Orleans Pelicans are finalizing a two-year contract with Italian forward Nicolo Melli, sources told ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski.
Melli led Turkish club Fenerbahce in scoring during last season's EuroLeague finals, according to Wojnarowski. He scored a game-high 28 points in the 2018 championship game, setting a new record in the EuroLeague's Final Four era, but it wasn't enough as Fenerbahce fell to Real Madrid.
The 28-year-old averaged 7.4 points and 4.1 rebounds in 36 games this season and shot 38.5 percent on 3-pointers, helping Fenerbahce return to the Final Four. The club finished fourth, however, after meeting Real Madrid again in the third-place game.
Melli previously worked with NBA sides ahead of the 2013 draft but went undrafted that year. He's spent the last two seasons in Turkey and also had stints in Italy and Germany.
