Report: Kings add Kokoskov to Walton's staff
The Sacramento Kings are hiring former Phoenix Suns head coach Igor Kokoskov as an assistant under Luke Walton, sources told ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski.
The Serbian coach spent one year in Phoenix, finishing with a disappointing 19-63 record before quickly getting axed. He previously spent three years as an assistant with the Utah Jazz and won an NBA championship under Larry Brown with the Detroit Pistons in 2004.
Walton was hired to replace David Joerger shortly after he parted ways with the Los Angeles Lakers.
Kokoskov has found success at almost every level, most notably coaching the Slovenian national team to a surprising Eurobasket championship in 2017 with Miami Heat guard Goran Dragic and Dallas Mavericks star Luka Doncic leading the way.
