The Golden State Warriors could be getting more reinforcements for Game 4 than they expected.
Center Kevon Looney, who was believed to be out indefinitely after fracturing his collarbone in Game 2 of the NBA Finals, is now listed as questionable for Game 4 against the Toronto Raptors.
Doctors don't believe the injury will get worse, according to ESPN's Ramona Shelburne. As a result, Looney has been pushing the team to let him play Friday.
This development falls in line with a report on Thursday that the 23-year-old may recover in time to play in the series, though appearing in Game 4 would be an unexpectedly early return.
Looney was injured in the first quarter of Game 2 after falling awkwardly on his upper body while attempting to stop a Kawhi Leonard drive.
Looney is averaging 7.2 points and 4.6 rebounds per game this postseason for Golden State. He was also a key contributor off the bench in Game 1 of The Finals, recording nine points, three rebounds, one assist, and one steal over 28 minutes.
While Looney's status is still uncertain, Warriors head coach Steve Kerr said Klay Thompson, who missed Game 3 with a hamstring issue, is expected to play in Game 4. Kevin Durant, meanwhile, will sit out again on Friday, though Kerr said late Thursday there's a "good chance" the 10-time All-Star will return for Game 5 or 6.
The Warriors are hoping to tie the series 2-2 on Friday before going back to Toronto for Game 5 Monday.
