Philadelphia 76ers general manager Elton Brand said Wednesday that "it's possible" center Joel Embiid won't be ready to play when the postseason begins, according to The Athletic's Michael Lee.

Embiid is sitting out the regular-season finale due to load management and left knee soreness, but Brand is optimistic that he won't be forced to miss any time.

The superstar was absent for the first eight games following the All-Star break with knee issues. He also sat three games at the end of March and beginning of April due to load management. Embiid and the club have taken a cautious approach in the second half of the season with his long-term health in mind.

He's averaging career highs in points (27.5), rebounds (13.6), and assists (3.7) across 64 appearances this season.
