The Miami Heat are going to be without Derrick Jones Jr. for an extended period.
Jones will be out of the Heat's lineup for at least six weeks and will be re-evaluated at that time, the team announced Monday.
The 6-foot-7 forward suffered two bone bruises to his right knee when he was fouled in transition during the second quarter of the Heat's matchup against the New York Knicks on Sunday. He's set to begin treatment immediately.
Jones is averaging 7.4 points on 51 percent from the field to go along with 4.4 rebounds in 37 games.
The Heat, who sit in seventh in the Eastern Conference with a 24-24 record, next take on the Chicago Bulls on Wednesday.
