Anthony Davis plans to see a hand specialist with fear of a volar plate avulsion fracture in his left index finger, his agent Rich Paul told The Athletic's Shams Charania.
If a fracture is confirmed, Davis would likely miss two-to-four weeks of action rather than the expected one-to-two weeks the New Orleans Pelicans originally announced on Saturday.
Davis hurt the finger during Friday's 128-112 loss to the Portland Trail Blazers.
Staying healthy has been a challenge at times for Davis. He's only played more than 68 regular-season games twice in his NBA career. His current injury comes at a bad time for the Pelicans, who play six of their next seven games against teams currently in a playoff position.
