There are off-shooting nights in the NBA, and then there's what Robert Covington and Andrew Wiggins had Saturday night against the Chicago Bulls.
The Minnesota Timberwolves teammates combined for four points with a single field goal between the two on 30 total attempts. Their inability to make buckets didn't hurt the team, though, as Minnesota blew out Chicago 111-96 at Target Center for its ninth victory of the season.
The lone make came from Covington at the 9:52 mark of the third quarter off an assist from Karl-Anthony Towns. The 27-year-old forward took 18 total shots, becoming just the seventh player in NBA history to take 18 or more shots and only make one.

Unlike Covington, Wiggins didn't see the ball fall through the mesh once. The former No. 1 overall pick whiffed on all 12 of his attempts, including four from behind the arc. To make matters worse, Wiggins didn't contribute much of anything elsewhere, notching one rebound, one assist, and one turnover while having an even plus-minus in 29 minutes.
He's now the 18th player since 2000 to take 12 or more shots in a game and fail to convert any.

Towns, meanwhile, arguably put forth his strongest performance of the campaign, finishing with 35 points, 22 rebounds, six assists, and a steal in 37 minutes of action. Derrick Rose chipped in 22 points off the bench, while Dario Saric added a double-double with 19 points and 14 rebounds.
It's safe to say Covington and Wiggins owe them a big fat thank you.
