Ex-player Rod Strickland's been hired as program manager of the G League's new professional path system, the NBA confirmed Tuesday.

The program, announced in October, is designed to serve as an alternative to college basketball. The G League will offer "select contracts" worth $125,000 to elite players who are at least 18 years old but are not eligible for the NBA draft.

Strickland played 17 seasons in the NBA with nine teams.
