It's no secret Draymond Green and Kevin Durant are both vital to the success of the Golden State Warriors.
But as the team moves on from Monday's public spat between the pair, Green knows it's going to take "a certain cohesiveness" if the Warriors are to manage the three-peat this year.
"Rome wasn't built in a day. You know, I don't think you've had anybody in your life where you trusted them in a day," Green told The Athletic's Sam Amick. "I think when you look at life, two of the hardest things to build are trust and respect ... Those are two things that are important in a relationship. They don't happen overnight. But they're probably two of the most important factors - when you speak of any relationship - that matters. And so, you know, you rebuilding that and the relationship takes on a life of its own."
Green has spent the week mulling over the situation and seeking advice from his inner circle, including his former college coach, Tom Izzo.
Their collective message: "No matter what, be you. Make the situation right. Do what you've got to do."
Green was held scoreless in his return from his one-game suspension as the Warriors were defeated 107-86 by the Houston Rockets in a rematch of last year's Western Conference finals.
