Report: Green-KD spat continued in locker room, touched on impending free agency
The late-game dispute between Golden State Warriors stars Kevin Durant and Draymond Green apparently didn't end on the court following a 121-116 overtime loss to the L.A. Clippers on Monday, as sources told ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski that the exchange continued in the locker room.
Teammates reportedly confronted Green for his decision to not pass to Durant with time ticking down in the fourth quarter and the game tied, as he instead dribbled up the court before fumbling the ball before the buzzer sounded.
During the altercation between the two on the court, Green reportedly challenged Durant about his upcoming free agency, sources told Shams Charania of The Athletic.
Witnesses described the scene as "one of the most intense of this G-State era," according to Wojnarowski. Warriors officials reportedly worked toward a resolution on Tuesday.
That resolution turns out to be a benching against the Atlanta Hawks for Green to cool off, per Charania.
During the play, Durant was seen clapping and calling for the ball after Green grabbed a defensive rebound with just over three seconds remaining in the fourth quarter. The two exchanged words before the start of overtime as teammates kept them separated.
Green's defense of his decision reportedly escalated the intensity of the debate within the locker room.
The Warriors play again on Thursday against the Houston Rockets.
