Russell Westbrook made his 2018-19 regular-season debut Sunday night when the Oklahoma City Thunder hosted the visiting Sacramento Kings at Chesapeake Energy Arena.
He was inserted back into the starting lineup and wasn't under a minutes restriction from head coach Billy Donovan, according to ESPN's Royce Young.
Westbrook had initially been listed as out for the game as he continued to recover from a right knee scope, but after being cleared for full-contact drills on Friday, the Thunder decided he was ready to play.
The 29-year-old point guard contributed 25.4 points, 10.1 rebounds, and 10.3 assists last season for the 48-win Thunder, making him the first player in NBA history to average a triple-double in consecutive campaigns.
Oklahoma City currently owns an 0-2 record with road losses to the Golden State Warriors and Los Angeles Clippers.
