The New Orleans Pelicans have acquired forward Wesley Johnson from the Los Angeles Clippers in exchange for center Alexis Ajinca, the team announced Monday.
The Clippers are expected to waive Ajinca, according to ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski.
Los Angeles will also reportedly part with guard Juwan Evans to get their roster to 15 players before the regular season begins.
Johnson could quickly find himself in a prominent role with New Orleans, as the Pelicans lack depth and defensive versatility on the perimeter.
Ajinca is owed $5.3 million this season, giving the Clippers a cheaper option than releasing Johnson and his remaining $6.1 million.
