The New Orleans Pelicans are reportedly working toward adding Jahlil Okafor to their training camp roster, according to The New Orleans Advocate's Scott Kushner.
The third overall pick in the 2014 draft has had difficulty finding a role in the NBA as he has struggled to adjust to a league that now requires big men to be able to stretch the floor.
Okafor could provide the Pelicans with a low-cost option at center behind Anthony Davis and Julius Randle if they choose to extend their potential agreement into the regular season.
The three-year pro averaged 17.5 points and seven rebounds for the 10-win Philadelphia 76ers during his rookie campaign. He was inevitably pushed out of the rotation by All-Star center Joel Embiid last season before being dealt to the Brooklyn Nets, with whom he averaged 6.4 points and 2.9 rebounds in 26 games.
