LeBron producing doc series called 'Shut Up and Dribble'
LeBron James wasn't pleased back in February when Fox News commentator Laura Ingraham suggested the superstar "shut up and dribble" after he criticized President Donald Trump.
Now he's taken it a step further, and is producing a three-part documentary series about changing role of athletes in the current political environment, Showtime announced Monday, via Variety's Joe Otterson.
The title: "Shut Up and Dribble."
"LeBron James is one of many competitors whose place in the spotlight has led not to silence but perspective," Showtime CEO David Nevins said. "He, (producer) Maverick Carter and (director) Gotham Chopra have given us an important, insightful docuseries that should bring their fans and fellow citizens to a higher level of discourse, rather than the dismissal satirized in the title."
The documentary will focus on the evolution of athletes' participation in social justice and business endeavors over the years, and is slated to air in October.
