Report: Spurs asked Sixers for 2 players, 3 first-rounders for Kawhi
The San Antonio Spurs are justifiably driving a hard bargain for two-time Defensive Player of the Year Kawhi Leonard.
With the Los Angeles Lakers seemingly unwilling to meet their demands, the Spurs turned to the Philadelphia 76ers, asking them for two unnamed current players and three future first-round draft picks, sources told Yahoo's Jordan Schultz.
The Sixers do have the luxury of owning the Miami Heat's unprotected 2021 first-rounder on top of all their own picks but may be reticent to meet that asking price without some reasonable assurances in regard to the variables at play with Leonard, from his health to his 2019 free-agency plans.
The Sixers have reportedly been internally discussing trade packages for Leonard, but those packages - centered around Dario Saric, Robert Covington, and the Miami pick - stopped well short of what the Spurs are reportedly asking for.
