J.R. Smith's NBA Finals Game 1 jersey proved to be a hot item at auction.
The black No. 5 jersey, which was auctioned off through the NBA Auctions website, sold for $23,548 on Thursday night. TMZ Sports notes that bidding heated up on the final day, reaching $11,000 and then doubling before the auction closed.
With 4.7 seconds remaining in Game 1 versus the Golden State Warriors and the score tied at 107, Smith corralled the offensive rebound off George Hill's missed free throw and proceeded to dribble the ball out to the 3-point line. The Cleveland Cavaliers went on to lose the game 124-114 in overtime.
"After thinking about it ... I can't say I was sure of anything at that point," Smith later said of the blunder.
