Report: Cavs continuing to pursue possible trade for Kemba Walker
Despite selecting Alabama sensation Collin Sexton with the eighth overall pick in Thursday's draft, the Cleveland Cavaliers may not be done looking to acquire high-level talent at the point guard position.
General manager Koby Altman and the Cavs are continuing to work on a possible deal for Charlotte Hornets All-Star Kemba Walker, league sources told Bleacher Report's Ken Berger.
Although it would seem the best chance for a swap would've included trading the No. 8 pick to the Hornets, a source close to Walker told Berger that a deal still remains "possible."
Another league source doubled down on the assertion, telling Berger that bringing Walker to Cleveland "is the only way LeBron stays."
The Cavs have been interested in the 28-year-old since the trade deadline. Walker had a very strong season - averaging 22.1 points and 5.6 assists per game while shooting 38.4 percent from downtown and 86.4 percent from the free-throw line - despite Charlotte's overall struggles.
While acquiring a third All-Star to join James and Kevin Love could be the boost the Cavs need to continue their reign in the East, rival executives are pessimistic. In fact, an Eastern Conference executive texted Berger saying that the only way James would stick around in Cleveland is by being given "ownership of the team."
