With the No. 26 pick in the 2018 NBA Draft, the Philadelphia 76ers selected Wichita State guard Landry Shamet.

Shamet was one of the most efficient long-range shooters in all of college basketball last season, hitting 44.2 percent on nearly six 3-point attempts a game and posting an elite 65.5 true shooting percentage. He is also a steady-handed creator who led the American Athletic Conference in assists while keeping turnovers to a minimum.

He has the size to play both guard positions and the range to play on or off the ball, but there are concerns about his defense, his slight build, and his lack of explosiveness.

What the analysts are saying

  • "In an NBA that particularly emphasizes offensive versatility nowadays, Shamet's ability to play both on and off the ball at a high level will serve him quite well ... While he does in large part make up for it with his high-IQ and skill, Shamet's lack of burst off the dribble will limit his upside at the next level." - William Peter Desautelle III, NBADraft.net
  • "Shamet is a smart, skilled point guard that can shoot and pass the basketball. He can steadily run the point, but he may lack elite physical tools, so he does not have as much upside as some of the upper echelon point guard prospects in this draft class. - NBA Scouting Live
