Golden State Warriors forward Draymond Green wisely filed for a trademark of the "Hamptons 5" nickname in 2017, according to TMZ Sports.
The nickname for Golden State's famed small-ball lineup of Green, Kevin Durant, Andre Iguodala, Klay Thompson, and Stephen Curry, was first coined by The Athletic columnist Tim Kawakami.
The origin of the moniker stemmed from when the four players successfully recruited Durant at the Hamptons in 2016 when he was a free agent.
Kawakami's term didn't catch on at first, but it has now become a mainstream term in this year's playoffs, as both the players and Warriors coach Steve Kerr have started using the nickname.
