Before the start of the second round, Toronto Raptors point guard Fred VanVleet vowed not to show too much deference to Cleveland Cavaliers forward LeBron James.
"Obviously I respect the guy a lot," VanVleet said. "But for me, the most respect I can give him is to not give him any respect, in terms of going out there and just trying to challenge him and take him down."
VanVleet put his money where his mouth was in the second quarter of Tuesday's Game 1. After he and James got tangled up underneath the basket, VanVleet reacted to a shove by going after James, who has about nine inches and 80 lbs of size on him.
VanVleet was saved from a technical foul (and, possibly, from bodily harm) by teammates Kyle Lowry and DeMar DeRozan.
