Damian Lillard made his return to the Portland Trail Blazers Friday night for their home matchup with the Los Angeles Clippers after going through a roller coaster of emotions the day prior.

The All-Star guard's girlfriend gave birth to his first son, Damian Houston Lillard, on Thursday, which he ensured he was present for by flying home from New Orleans after Portland's game against the Pelicans on Tuesday.

But on the same day as the birth of his son, the point guard's half-brother, 20-year-old Jahrell Lillard, was shot five times in the parking lot of the Clackamas Town Center in Portland, according to The Associated Press.

"I think the highs and lows, my son coming out and holding him, then having to deal with a tragedy in the middle of it was unfortunate," said Lillard, according to ESPN.

He added that Jahrell is "doing fine" after the incident. Sgt. Nate Thompson believes he was the victim of a targeted attack, with details still emerging and no arrests yet made.

"My number one concern is his health and well-being," Lillard said of his half-brother. "Right now he's stable and doing fine. In a situation like this you can't ask any more than that. You've got to let the authorities do their job."
