Philadelphia 76ers center Joel Embiid had to leave Wednesday's game against the New York Knicks in the second quarter after taking a shoulder to the head from teammate Markelle Fultz.
Embiid was diagnosed with a facial contusion, and did not return.

The good news for Philadelphia is that Embiid appears to have avoided a significant injury.
The team announced that X-rays on his face came back negative, and that he cleared the concussion protocol with no initial diagnosis of a concussion, Kyle Neubeck of PhillyVoice reported. Embiid was, however, taken to a hospital after the game for precautionary tests.
The All-Star big man left the game with five points and three rebounds in nine minutes. The Sixers still won handily without him, routing the Knicks 118-101.
