Miami Heat head coach Erik Spoelsta will not be on the sidelines Sunday against the Indiana Pacers. The 47-year-old has flown back to Miami to be with his wife, who is expected to soon deliver the couple's first child, the team announced.
Assistant head coach Dan Craig will take over head coaching duties for Sunday's matchup.
Spoelstra's wife Nikki revealed on her husband's birthday in November that the two were expecting a child in the new year.
Spoelstra is expected to return Tuesday when Miami hosts the Cleveland Cavaliers, according to the Miami Herald's Barry Jackson.
