Hall of Famer and Philadelphia 76ers great Julius Erving was taken to hospital Friday night while attending the Sixers' game against the Detroit Pistons.
''Philadelphia 76ers legend Julius Erving fell ill at tonight's game and was taken to a local hospital, where he is currently being evaluated," Erving's management team said a statement, according to The Associated Press. "He is expected to be released after the evaluation."
There was no immediate update on the 67-year-old's condition.
Erving had been honored by the team before the game on the 35-year anniversary of his famous rock-the-cradle dunk against the Los Angeles Lakers, and rang the ceremonial Liberty Bell before tipoff.
