Kerr: Warriors will be on court to watch Kobe's jersey retirement
Steve Kerr wants his side to take in the Los Angeles Lakers' tribute to one of the game's greatest.
As the Lakers prepare to retire both Kobe Bryant's No. 8 and No. 24 jerseys during the half-time intermission of their matchup with the Golden State Warriors on Monday, Kerr candidly admitted he intends to have his team on the court as the celebration gets underway.
"Just the experience in seeing one of the greatest players in the history of the game getting his jersey retired and we happen to be there," Kerr told ESPN's Chris Haynes on Saturday. "I'm not going to keep them in the locker room to watch tape of the first half. The players would look at me like I was nuts.
"There's something interesting going on the floor. Let's go out there."
Along with retiring both of Bryant's signature numbers from his 20-year career with Los Angeles, the Lakers will also host a free street festival titled "Kobeland" outside Staples Center during the game.
