The NBA's Board of Governors unanimously elected Toronto Raptors governor Larry Tanenbaum as chairman Thursday.
Tanenbaum becomes the first Canadian to serve in the position, succeeding Minnesota Timberwolves owner Glen Taylor. Tanenbaum has long been the most recognizable face of the Raptors' ownership structure, Maple Leaf Sports and Entertainment, which includes the NHL's Maple Leafs and Toronto FC of MLS.
The Toronto native has served on the NBA Advisory/Finance Committee since 2008.
