Marc Gasol: Spanish team atmosphere 'very different' from Memphis'
Marc Gasol is looking forward to playing with his countrymen.
The 7-foot-1 center is happy to be back with the Spanish national team for this year's EuroBasket, suggesting the team is a more cohesive unit compared to the Memphis Grizzlies.
"We suffer more as a spectator than as a player," Gasol told Manu Carreno of Cadena Ser. "We're a family, it's a reality. We overcome the bad moments, we have mentors and leaders, such as Pau (Gasol) and (Juan Carlos) Navarro who are also there to give pause and tranquility. The atmosphere is very different from Memphis. I hope we can win a ring, we have to be very consistent and disciplined."
Gasol hasn't been afraid to hint at his frustrations with Memphis this summer, revealing last month that he may "have to revisit things" if the Grizzlies fail to improve.
The nine-year veteran can opt out of his contract at the conclusion of the 2018-19 campaign, when he'll be 34 years old.
Gasol averaged 19.5 points, 6.3 rebounds, 4.6 assists, 1.3 blocks, and 0.9 steals in 74 games last season.
