Report: Knicks, Jeff Teague have mutual interest

After a year with the Indiana Pacers, could Jeff Teague take his talents to the Big Apple this summer?

The one-time All-Star point guard and the New York Knicks have mutual interest in uniting, according to ESPN's Ramona Shelburne. Teague is an unrestricted free agent.

The team reportedly had interest in retaining the services of last year's starting point guard, Derrick Rose, who's also an unrestricted free agent. However, with the front office undergoing a regime change - with president of basketball operations Phil Jackson departing the organization - the Knicks may be looking to switch directions.

New York already bolstered its backcourt rotation this offseason, selecting French international player Frank Ntilikina with the No. 8 pick in the June 22 draft. Ntilikina, just 18 years old, is a raw commodity on the offensive end and will need time to adjust to the intensity of the NBA game.

Teague would serve as a competent placeholder at starting point guard, giving Ntilikina and young franchise cornerstone Kristaps Porzingis some much-needed stability and leadership during what will likely be a bumpy transition period for the franchise.
