Report: Assistant GM may leave Bucks after losing out on GM job
Milwaukee Bucks assistant general manager Justin Zanik was widely reported to be a front-runner for the team's GM vacancy, but was ultimately passed over in favor of another internal hire: director of basketball operations Jon Horst.
Now, there are rumblings around the league that a disgruntled Zanik may soon be on his way out of Milwaukee, according to Gery Woelfel of the Racine Journal Times.
Zanik appeared to be the leading candidate to be promoted from within the organization, but according to The Vertical's Adrian Wojnarowski, opinion was split on him among the team's owners, and ultimately a consensus could not be reached.
Before the Bucks hired him last summer, Zanik worked in the Utah Jazz's front office for three years, and before that worked for nine years as a player agent at ASM Sports. He'd been serving as the Bucks' interim GM since John Hammond left to take a job with the Orlando Magic last month.
